How It Works
An anterior guided splint is a type of bite appliance worn on the upper arch, designed to simulate an ideal bite. Used for therapy, and “deprogramming” of the jaws, to facilitate healing, neuromuscular coordination, and alignment of the lower jaw to a stable physiologic TMJ. This is not to be confused with a night guard that is only for physical protection of the teeth. A night guard is not matched to the TMJ’s as an anterior guided splint is.
