Tooth Extraction Process

At Keyser Dentistry, we promise to provide you with the upmost care and comfort during every procedure you receive. In the situation where your tooth has extensive structural damage, Dr. Keyser may recommend to completely extract the tooth. Before extraction, we take extensive x-rays to determine to best way to remove the tooth. Dr. Keyser will then administer a local anesthesia to numb the affected area before extraction. In the case of a simple extraction, the tooth should gently lift from the socket. In some cases, a surgical extraction may be required. A surgical extraction is usually the best course of action if the tooth has been impacted or if the tooth has broken off at the gum line. These procedures also have minimal downtime and can be done in under 1 hour!

What Happens After a Tooth is Extracted?

Wondering what will happen after your tooth is extracted? Don’t worry, Dr. Keyser works with each patient to carefully construct a customized treatment plan for restoring the space after the tooth extraction procedure. Replacement options could include a partial denture, a bridge, or an implant. Some also elect to leave the space open. Depending on the way you want to restore the space, Dr. Keyser may also recommend placing bone and membrane in the extraction site.
