Cone Beam Computerized Tomography
In addition to Dr. Keyser’s training and research on TMJ dysfunction and bite correction, he uses a high-tech system to aid in diagnosis and treatment of this complicated condition.
Sirona Galileos (CBCT) is a digital, 3-D X-ray that allows us to look at all surfaces of your temporomandibular joints (TMJ). This is an important step to properly assess the health and reach a conclusive diagnosis on the source of your pain. We are proud to be one of the practices in the area to utilize this technology.
Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) is state of the art technology that has unequivocally been shown to provide superior diagnostics for a range of dental problems, to name a few; TMJ evaluation, implant design, periodontal bone evaluation, and root canal treated teeth that remain symptomatic. We are proud to be among the few offices in the Research Triangle Park who have an in office CBCT. Using CBCT technology, Dr. Keyser benefits from the most advanced and accurate information available for designing and treatment planning dentistry today.
Laser dentistry can be an exact and effective way to perform many dental procedures. Laser technology is one of the best things to happen to dentistry in years as it allows for the treatment of a highly specific area of focus without damaging surrounding tissue.
If you think you are an anxious dental patient and are seeking safety and comfort, look no further. Dr. Keyser incorporates laser dentistry into providing healthier and more attractive gums around teeth restored with crowns and bridges. The laser technology allows Dr. Keyser to provide patients with a precision treatment that can minimize pain as well as recovery time.
Benefits of Laser Dentistry?
There are many benefits to laser dentistry. Some laser dentistry procedures do not require anesthesia and procedures performed on soft tissue may not even require stitches. Laser dentistry minimizes bleeding because the high-energy light beam aids in the clotting of blood and reduces the chance of bacterial infection because the beam sterilizes the area. Also damage to surrounding tissue is minimized leading to reduced healing time and faster tissue regeneration.
Gum Laser Dentistry Procedures:
- Crown Lengthening- Dental lasers can reshape gum tissue and bone to expose healthier tooth structures.
- Gummy Smile- Dental lasers can improve the appearance of a gummy smile by exposing healthy tooth structure.
- Muscle Attachment- A laser frenectomy is an ideal treatment for children who are tongue tied and babies that are unable to breast feed due to limited tongue movement. Laser frenectomy may also help eliminate speech impediments.
- Soft Tissue Folds- Dental lasers can be used as a painless and stitch-free removal of tissue folds caused by ill-fitting dentures.
- Benign Tumors- Dental lasers may be used for removal of benign tumors from the gums, palate, and the sides of cheeks and lips in a painless and stitch-free way.
- Cold Sores- Low intensity dental lasers reduce the pain associated with cold sores and reduce healing time.
Dr. Keyser uses digital radiography to get a perfect picture of internal as well as external dental structures. These images let Dr. Keyser see things that are not visible during your average exam, such as cavities between teeth, bone health, and tooth nerves and roots. The images also aid in the diagnosis of cysts and tumors which can help to better assess the damage caused by trauma.
Dr. Keyser uses the Kodak Intra-oral Digital X-ray system (H2). This technology utilizes high-frequencies to provide high-quality image definition and allows us to generate crystal clear images of your mouth, making diagnosis easier and more accurate. This machine also produces minimal radiation.
See CBCT for extra-oral x-ray technology for advanced diagnostics and implant design for missing teeth.
Digital Imaging/ Photography
At Keyser Dentistry, we’ll take pictures of your smile during your exam and following the treatment in order to document your changes. If you want a glimpse of your new smile prior to beginning treatment, we’ll use our digital imaging software to create a high-resolution picture that shows the planned effects of specific treatments. These images are invaluable as educational and treatment planning tools.
Intra-oral cameras are our patient’s favorite technology! These cameras allow the patient to see the issues or concerns Dr. Keyser is describing on a high-resolution screen. This equipment is also used for patient education and helps to improve patient/doctor communication.
Resolving complex dental issues may require a team of professionals. If you require the care of one or more specialists, Dr. Keyser will combine his expertise and skill with that of others to ensure you receive the care you need to ensure your best possible health and optimal treatment results. Dr. Keyser will oversee your treatment until the desired outcome is reached. Interdisciplinary dentistry requires that all parties work harmoniously toward the same goals.
