How It Works
The safest, most consistently effective means of whitening your teeth is to use customized bleach trays. We take impressions that our lab uses to make your trays and provide you with a bleaching agent. We recommend that you bleach for approximately an hour at a time until you reach your desired level of whiteness. Once that has been achieved, you may use the trays to ‘touch-up’ as needed.
The color change should last three to seven years. If you drink copious amounts of coffee, tea, sodas, red wine, or are a smoker, the teeth may turn darker again. If this happens, you can repeat the teeth whitening process.
Some side effects include temporary sensitivity to temperature changes but this will subside. There is not any damage to the enamel, dentin, or pulp from the whitening process but fillings and crowns do not whiten and you may need/want to have them redone to match your whitened teeth.
